Andøya Space is currently building Europe's first spaceport just north of Bukkekjerka.
As a result, Scenic Route Andøya will be periodically closed.
A spaceport is a place from where launch vehicles can lift satellites into orbit around the Earth. The satellites launched from Andøya will among other things be used for communication and earth observation.
This year, the first launch pad and associated support buildings will be built. The base as a whole will be ready in 2025, but the first construction phase will be completed during the early winter of 2022/2023.
The construction means that a section of the road past Børvågen is a construction area, where large trucks and other machines will travel. Due to this, there will be a reduced speed limit through the construction site, and the road will also be closed for shorter periods in connection with loading and unloading of machines and equipment.
