The building is designed as a simple pavilion and mainly consists of a large "floating" roof resting on two concrete trestles. The roof extends beyond the walls to cover the outdoor area around the building, and is designed as a lampshade. This serves as a bright spot at the edge of the quay and is clearly visible from the sea even in the dark season. With its different shades of a greyish-blue colour, the building at Moskenes ferry quay has become an attraction in itself.
