Kvanndal

Fiordside rest area with toilet facilities.

Kvanndal was formerly an important junction since the ferry between Kvanndal and Kinsarvik for a long time was the main route of travel between the inner and outer parts of Hardanger.

This has changed over time – first with the Vallavik tunnel and a new ferry connection between Bruravik and Brimnes, and in 2013 with the construction of the Hardanger Bridge. Traffic through Kvanndal was then greatly reduced and the place became more attractive as a place to stop by the fiord.

The new toilet building was completed in 2008 and is situated so that it is close both to the line-up area at the ferry quay and to a simple rest area on the west side of the building. The toilet building has a waiting room with glass walls and a special glass roof with lighting. The building is shaped like a "grindbygg" timber frame in line with old building traditions in Hardanger.

On the grassy area west of the toilet building there is a simple rest area with tables and benches. This place is in close contact with the Hardanger fiord and invites you to take a dip. The parking area for users of the rest area and the toilet facilities is on the part of the ferry quay area that is closest to the toilet building. There are plans to expand this parking area and mark it more clearly, but so far this has not been done.

Steinstøberget

The rest area at Steinstøberget is built on multiple levels.

The uppermost has service facilities and a group of benches from where visitors can enjoy the scenic vista over the Hardangerfjord. In addition, there is also a place for barbecuing and access to the fjord with provisions for angling.
