Borestranda

Borestranda is a part of the sand landscape at Jæren and an attractive destination for an outing.

The old toilet facilities were shabby and rundown, and the car park was too small.
The new service building is placed at the entrance to the beach and contains facilities such as an outdoor shower, toilets, seating and waste disposal. These facilities branch off from a ramp across the terrain.

The building is made of light grey concrete, and all functions are combined in one unit. From a distance it is inconspicuous and looks rather insignificant. Few materials have been used in addition to the concrete. The glass doors to the toilets have a frosted surface that lets the daylight in and lights up the outside at night. On the inside, the toilet rooms are covered in massive aluminium panels.

The car park can accommodate 200 cars and is demarcated by boulders from the local area. Oval-shaped areas have been planted with green marram grass that encircle the remains of the base plate of an old concrete pole from the Second World War.

Høllesli

The viewpoint at Høllesli is designed as a cutting through the rock.

Along Ryfylkevegen the view of Lysefjorden is fabulous, but since the terrain is steep and the road runs close to the fjord, it was difficult to find a place where there would be room for a rest area with parking as well as a viewpoint.

The viewpoint at Høllesli is designed as a cutting through the rock. As you walk through the rock-cut passage, the landscape opens up and you will have a wide view of Lysefjorden. Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) is hiding behind other steep mountains descending into the fjord. The cutting is lined with sprayed concrete, smoothly and precisely shaped. The viewpoint is designed as a straight platform that has been fitted into the rock and takes you out towards the view and the cliff above the water. The platform has been built into the landscape, and large steps have been established to sit on and to adapt the artificial to the natural. A handrail loops into the surrounding nature, for those who would like to venture into the rough terrain.

Refsnesstranda

Refsnesstranda is a popular destination along Scenic Route Jæren.

The southern parts of the beach mostly consist of sand dunes, while the northern parts have pebbles. A modern aluminium toilet building has been put up at the beach. From here, a wooden deck path runs down to the sand dunes. The new building has an outdoor shower, a rinse-off station and a bench to sit on.The circular car park has room for 40 cars. The toilets are closed from the end of October to the beginning of April.
